Kurt Johnston was again named the Youth Pastor of the Year. Hey, wait a minute, did the list even change from last year? Either way, congrats, Kurt!

what is the list based on? i know someone in the list, who was added to it last year after only having been at the church for a few weeks.

I gotta admit, I'm kinda weird on doing a top 20 on youth pastors. I love Kurt. I just hope this isn't becoming a ministry version of American Idol. I did get to hang with New Life's crew last week and see how they do things. Good stuff there!

Kurt and I were basically saying the same thing yesterday ... I really hope he blogs about it, he's got a very solid perspective on the whole thing ... I think it would be neat to hear from him and hear his heart on it.

A great guy ... very cool and humble ...

ok...setting to the side my discomfort with it, for the moment, i think i'd chime in, that it may very well be the same list as last year, since the new life guy is listed as working with Pastor Ted Haggard...and i'm just not sure how 'up to date' that makes it.

just a thought.

I gotta admit, I'm in the uncomfortable crowd on this one. Which I don't like saying, because the names I recognize on the list are great servants of God doing amazing things, so I wouldn't want to take away from them ... but I am uncomfortable with a top 20 list of youth ministry. What is the criteria to make the list? How are they evaluated? Would a guy from a small church even have a chance at being considered in the top twenty?

And I'm just shocked Fields didn't make the list. What's that all about???

I would love to see the criteria listed, that would be great. And is there anyone on the list that is doing ministry to less than a megachurch? True ...

You know what they say, once you start naming names ...

This is one of my pet peeves. Now we have Youth Pastors out there (none of us I am sure...) who want to be the top dog and forget why they even got into Youth Ministry--TO LOVE STUDENTS!
