It looks amazing, but there's a couple of rough points:
1. 5 Hour Battery life
2. 8GB hard drive
3. $599 price tag - At 1/09/2007, Unknown said...

Agreed ... those are 3 REALLY BIG problems. Argh! But still, very cool ... and that from a PC guy.
4. Cingular only
5. Slow download speeds

1. 5 hour - better than most smart phones, and that is with full usage. In just audio/ipod fashion, you get 16 hours.
2. 8 gb, is the most by far in any phone available.
3. $599 - yeah that sucks
4. Cingular only - sucks again, but only way apple could develop the hardware and software, give and take...
5. Slow-ish EDGE isn't bad and it has wifi that switches on the fly. So any time you are in a wifi network speeds instantly go up and switches on the fly.
.....
6. Yahoo IMAP exchange email for free.
7. Visual Voice Mail
8. AUTOMATIC screen orientation switching from portrait to landscape
9. full supported browser (google docs, spreadsheet, calendar, etc. all supported)
10. proximity sensor on ear element of phone to automatically turn off display when you put the phone to your ear
11. full operating system on the phone
12. www.apple.com -

8GB may be the most of any phone, but it's not enough to hold a whole music library....and when you talk about adding movies and tv shows, it's definitely going to be lacking. There's going to be a bunch of generations of this thing, and they'll get the storage situation taken care of for sure.

I think the whole notion of having Mac OS on a phone is one of the biggest selling points. The size of the HD is kinda weak. For me, though, the cost is the fatal flaw. I could almost buy a Mac laptop for that. Or a Mac mini. Basically, it's the cost of a computer. Not sure if I love Apple THAT much right now, especially since I'm committed to Sprint for 18 more months of service on my Treo700p. Sigh...
