Is it just a bad second half of the year, or is iTunes run over? According to Blomberg, sales are declining. The news comes as I just opened up a delightful $25 gift card to grab new songs this Christmas. Interesting!
Apple Computer Inc.'s iTunes music store suffered a 65 percent slump in sales during the first six months of the year, reversing almost two years of gains, according to a Forrester Research Inc. report.JGThe number of iTunes transactions declined 58 percent between January and June of this year, while transaction size fell 17 percent, the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based market- research firm said today. ITunes spokesman Tom Neumayr said the report is ``simply incorrect.''
``ITunes won't save the music business, or Apple,'' analyst Josh Bernoff wrote in the report.

I read an article on Engadget that sighted the same stats, but it claimed that the downswing can be found across the industry as a whole, not just iTunes. The entire music industry is on a decline. What can you expect when the top artists are Fergie and Taylor Hicks? Come on people!

Was that one of the cards you kept from the Chirstmas Party? Perks for hosting.
