Just be glad your senior pastor or elders don't keep track of all of your fouls as a youth pastor like they do in soccer. How would you like a newspaper article like this about you?

Actually, Josh, the problem in too many churches is that leaders DO keep track of each other's faults just like that article. We remember every little error, every little mistake -- and we keep record of it until just the "right" moment" when we're trying to prove our case and show we're right. It can be an elder or a pastor or a small group leader or any number of roles -- we all can fall into that trap if we're not careful.

And yet, doesn't a pattern of errors and mistakes demonstrate the need for instruction? And if a leader's instruction doesn't effect new behavior, isn't it important to remember the pattern of behavior?

Hmmm...something to chew on that's almost as tasty as a Slim Jim.

Hmmm... guess I've spent too much time around the lovely odor of fireworks... I missed the sarcasm first time around.
